Key Experiences

Special education teacher turned professional development leader in Philly.

Studied UX design, user research, product management, and coding informally while building out program structures for city-wide education projects.

Arrived in California in 2015, and started consulting with edtech companies.

In 2016, launched VR for Good campaign with Facebook and Digital Promise Global.

Transitioned to PM with Digital Promise Global on initiative to distill the science of learning for easy-to-consume B2B and B2C use.

Co-owned launch and relaunch of our initiative web app, the “Learner Variability Navigator.” To further this work, I continue to drive:

  • User research and usability testing

  • Persona and use case development

  • Creation and management of team processes, product management (and documentation), and KPI dashboards

  • Oversaw user growth 100% y/y

  • Co-design of medium-fidelity mocks of new app flow and elements

  • Cross-functional collaboration with org-wide products and services

Professional Development Manager

October 2009 - July 2015

Started as a Program Specialist (external consultant to 78 education agencies across Philadelphia) and transitioned into Professional Development (PD) Manager role. With a team of five Program Specialists, we designed and implemented 80+ learning sessions for hundreds of educators at city-funded out-of-school time (OST) programs. This work culminated in a 300+ attendee, 2-day conference with 32 learning sessions and two keynote sessions. All learning opportunities supported broader City and state PD credentialing and continuous quality improvement.

Additional work included:
– Running the First-year Site Director cohort,
– Managing a caseload of 18 programs to provide specialized, tailored support,
– Maintaining state-recognized trainer certification and supporting each of my Program Specialist’s certification,
– Creation of a scalable training content development system,
– Product management of our project’s website, and
– Building out a new coaching model for promising programs.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern NJ
March 2009 - October 2009

With a team of eight program assistants, developed learning and tutoring programs for 120+ after school students across grades 1st - 8th. This included literacy improvement programming, math, mentorship, music production, physical activities, and SEL-related activities.

We also implemented and wrote a $50k grant from The Horizon Foundation. My team successfully moved 80% of students one grade level higher in reading ability after the five month reading program.

August 2006 - August 2008

Through Teach For America (and after having completed an undergraduate teacher preparation program at Rutgers), taught a caseload of up to 16 students across grades 3rd to 8th at Alain Locke School. I developed and differentiated all curriculum and moved my students 1+ grade levels higher in math and reading. I also volunteered at a school-based OST program, and made home visits up to three times per week.
